HANLEY TOWN FAIL TO FINISH IN THE TOP TWO:
For the first time in the clubs short history the first team failed to finish in the top two of the Staffordshire County League (North), beaten by the reserve teams of Leek Town (Cheshire League) who were Staffs County League (North) Premier Division champions and Stafford Rangers (Northern Premier League). Third place was still reasonable reward, but it was disappointing to see the Reserves finish in the bottom half of Division One.
The club was still ground sharing at West Midlands League side Eastwood Hanley. Cup success was achieved in the Roger Lomas Trophy, and the club reached the final of the May Bank Cup losing to Leek Town. Having won the Staffordshire FA Challenge Cup the previous season the club reached the Final again, losing the final to Leek Town. The County League had now grown to include three Divisions of fifteen clubs.
