LAST SEASON AT EASTWOOD HANLEY
This was the last season that Hanley Town played at Eastwood Hanley as their landlords wanted to increase the rent to an unacceptable level. It was also a disappointing season on the field by previous standards with the lowest places yet for both teams in their respective leagues. The race for the Premier Division title was the closest for some seasons and Hanley Town were only six points off the top in fifth place, though only one point divided the top three.
There was no compensating cup victory for Hanley Town, though two cup finals were reached. The prestigious Sentinel Cup Final was reached for the first time, but lost 1-0 to Milton United. The club made a good attempt to defend the Roger Lomas Trophy eventually losing to Red Cow in the final. The club were still looking for a ground of their own and negotiations were being held with the council to find a suitable site. In the short term Leek Town agreed to allow the club to share their facilities for the following season.
