Kelvanoth Effah Hits Five

Hanley Town Reserves made it six wins on the bounce and move to within one point of Staffordshire Football League Division One leaders City of Stoke after a 9-2 win at the NBe Brokers Stadium on Wednesday night against fourth place Willington.

Kelvenoth Effah first half hat-trick and a fourth just after the interval earned Town Reserves three points.

With a spectacular goal by Lewis Porter for the first team on Bank holiday Monday, there were a few wonder strikes from the young Reserve side on Wednesday night.

On 8 minutes Alfie Wright hit a 25 yarder that smashed in off the post to open the scoring. But two minutes later the visitors were level a through ball found Z.Andrews clean through on goal who fired past Town keeper Machnik.

Effah got his first of the night racing into the penalty area to fire low past the keeper, Effah was then brought down inside the penalty area, Effah himself dispatched the penalty to make it 3-1.

The goals kept on coming, on 22 minutes Louis Brown smashed in a 35 yard free-kick into the top corner of the net to make it 4-1 to Hanley.

Nwaobilor Ananaba who never stopped running all night and was a thorn in Willington's side made a surging run down the right along the by-line before a low cross and who was there to tap home Kelvanoth Effah.

Dziugas Pincukas fired in Hanley's sixth after a good passing move, on 44 minutes Kelvanoth Effah raced onto a tremendous through ball before rounding the keeper and tapping into an empty net for his fourth goal and Hanley's seventh.

The goalscoring was still not over in an amazing first half when the visitors won themselves a penalty, C. Chand netted from the spot.

Half-Time:
Hanley Town Reserves 7 - 2 Willington:

There were some improvement from the visitors in the second half, but Hanley still dominated the majority of the half. Kelvanoth Effah should have got his fourth of the night in the opening three minutes into the second half but dragged his shot wide of the post. Willington went straight down the other end and C.Chand smashed a shot against the crossbar.

Effah got his fifth on 52 minutes racing onto a pass before turning his marker and hitting a low shot that the Willington keeper could not keep hold of before finding the corner of the net. George McKinney smashed Hanley's ninth goal on the hour mark after latching onto a loose ball just outside the penalty area.

Surprisingly they were no further goals for the remainder of the game, although Hanley created more chances without success, but full credit to the Willington side who themselves got forward and threatened Hanley's goal on occasions.

The Reserves, amazingly do not have a game for two weeks. But our Development side play their first competitive game of the season in the Staffordshire Football League Trophy Group game at home against Congleton Vale at St Peter's Academy ST4 2RR on Saturday 5th September kick-off 2pm.
