Hanley Town had to come from behind with ten men to make it through to the next round of the FA Cup in this local derby cup game against near neighbours Abbey Hulton United.

Hanley Town's Corey Muirhead fired the fist salvo over the crossbar from just outside the penalty area on 5 minutes. Hanley Town's Devante Ramsey was booked early in the game. 12 minutes gone and an Lewis Porter shot was saved by Abbey keeper Roberts. Five minutes later Hanley's Kieron Lazenby was clearly brought down in the penalty area but the referee waved play on.

On 15 minutes a chance for the Abbey T.Grice raced clear down the right his low shot was fingertipped away by Town keeper Lucas Knight.
On 25 minutes a brilliant crossfield pass by Kyle Stubbs found Kieran Lazenby who brought the ball down brilliantly before half volleying just wide of Abbey keepers Roberts post.

On 35 minutes the ball was in the Abbey's net, it looked that Abbey keeper Roberts collided with his own defender before the ball was dropped over the line?

Just before the interval a second yellow card was shown to Hanley's Ramsey, Town were now down to ten men.

On 55 minutes Abbey took the lead Grice raced clear before hitting a shot against the crossbar the ball fell to Holdham whose shot was blocked for a corner by Town defender Stair. But from the resulting corner M.Harrison rose highest to head Abbey in front.

Seven minutes later Hanley were level when a cross shot by Stubbs was stabbed home by Callum Middleton. Abbey hit the Hanley crossbar when Stanton lobbed a shot back from 22 yards from a Knight punch clear.

Hanley went in front with four minutes to go when another cross shot from Stubbs found Joel Stair at the back post to tap home from close range. Abbey had a late chance to level a ball to the back post found McIntosh only to head into the side netting.
